Album

God Save the Queen is a song by the British punk rock band the Sex Pistols. It was released as the band's second single and was later included on their only album, Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols. The song was released during Queen Elizabeth II's Silver Jubilee in 1977. The record's lyrics, as well as the cover, were controversial at the time, and both the BBC and the Independent Broadcasting Authority refused to play the song. The original title for the song was No Future, with. God save the Queen by the Sex Pistols. This was re-released in England in 2002 to coincide with The Queen's Golden Jubilee, which celebrated Queen Elizabeth's 50th year on the throne. Not all of her subjects were keen to celebrate the monarchy, however. The punk band had just released their second single, God Save the Queen. The boat trip was organized by manager Malcolm McLaren as a provocative promotion for the new record and a mockery of the royal river procession planned for two days later. Done for a laugh. God Save The Queen Its kind of high camp, in a way, said Sex Pistols singer John Lydon in 2002. You certainly dont think its going to be taken as a declaration of civil war. God Save The Queen, a thrilling three-minute-nineteen-second blast of disillusionment, was released to coincide with the Queens silver jubilee in the summer of 1977. Advance copies of their would-be first single, God Save the Queen, now sell for a small fortune. They eventually released the single, with its notorious front cover, on Virgin. God Save the Queen was as much an event as a song. On the occasion of the Queen's Silver Jubilee, 6 June, the Sex Pistols played on a boat on the Thames before police boarded the boat and ended the gig. More anarchy than politics, the song is a perfect reflection of the group: a vitriolic shambles that barely holds itself together. THE Queen has been given the photoshop treatment and turned into a Star Trek and Freddie Mercury fan after she wore a green dress while addressing the nation. The monarch gave a televised speech on Sunday night, where she urged the country to come together amid the coronavirus pandemic. Read our coronavirus live blog for the latest news & updates
