Stadium Arcadium is the ninth studio album by alternative rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers, released on May 9, 2006 via Warner Bros. It sold 442,000 copies in the U. in the first week and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. The album spawned five hit singles: Dani California, Snow Hey Oh, Desecration Smile, Hump De Bump, and Tell Me Baby. Stadium Arcadium is the band's ninth studio album, released in 2006. It was the last album released with guitarist John Frusciante before his second departure from the band. As a double album, the album covered many different stages of the band's career, from the harder funk-metal sound of Blood Sugar Sex Magik to the softer, more melodic alternative pop-rock sound of Californication and By the Way. This is the band's only album to debut at 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. It won 4 Grammy Awards. Stadium Arcadium. Red Hot Chili Peppers. Alternative 2006. Stadium Arcadium weaves intimate indie, slick power pop and the bands signature dirty funk into a commanding tapestry. Theres room for percussive dancehall sizzle Hump de Bump , shimmering classic rock Strip My Mind , old-school pop-punk Make You Feel Better , and minimalist New Wave-cum-glam Turn It Again . Album: Stadium Arcadium 2006. Indulgence has long been a way of life for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, yet they resisted the siren's call of the double album until 2006's Stadium Arcadium. Sure, 1991's breakthrough Blood Sugar Sex Magik was as long as a classic double LP, but such distinctions mattered little in the era when vinyl gave way to CD, and they matter less now, as the CD gradually gives way to digital-only releases

I agree. I was wowed when I heard things on Dani California that I had never heard before. Amazing album.
Listened to this last night. I'll echo everyone here. Amazing sound dynamics and clarity. Flea's bass is pronounced and punchy. Even the lowest end systems will see the difference in sound. Packaging is perfect, spacious and what should be expected from today's record releases. Just a perfect listening experience in every way, not to mention the album is great, has over two hours of music and some incredible guitar work from Frusciante. Add it to your collection if you can find it!
Sounds amazing even on my cheap vinyl setup. I'm litterally can say where every instrument located on the scene. Mass on a vinyl is pretty good and really close to absolutely silent. But sometimes I can hear some pops that's not critical. For me, as a RHCP, fan this boxset was like a must-have item in my collection.
Impressive quality- one of the best sounding records in my collection. Well designed and packaged. A must-have!
In one word.. wow.. one of my best records! This pressing is excellent, crisp and clean sound.
Does anyone know if this is 150 or 180 gram vinyl?
thecawala Does anyone know if this is 150 or 180 gram vinyl? 180g! I weighed it, I'm sure!
It's 150 gram each. I heard and read the 150 gram sounds even if not better than the 180g from 2006 / 2012. I got the 2017 repress which sounds really good. The 2006 edition is interesting also for the two books but this one here is one of if not the best. And for the price I paid It's a bit more than two regular double gatefolds. That's okay!
150g I'm Think !Very Good Repress (I've got The US Version)
Yes, I've determined that only the deluxe editions (original and 2012 repress) are 180. Also heard that the 150 plays better anyways so I'm not sure if getting the deluxe is worth what people are asking for even as a mega fan of this album
It's defintely not 180 gr., feels more like 140 gr.
One of the best sounding, especially fresh out of the box, sounding records I own! Nearly no noise at all. Even during the silent parts in between songs it's absolutely silent. Over the album itself; it's the album that defined my taste in music. I was around 11 when this album came out and it was the first album (back then on CD) I've ever bought for myself (so I might be slightly biased ;] ) . The album immediately grabbed my attention with its funky riffs, its catchy lyrics, awesome guitar solos, and overall just beautiful songs. I respect this album especially because they made a 28-track album with, in my opinion, no real lows quality wise. All songs have their own place on the album and it just works.Packed in a nice box with 2 seperate gatefolds housing the 4 LP's, this is a wonderful piece of art that is well worth its price and that everyone that's even the slightest fan of RHCP should include in their vinyl collection. Een when you're not necessarily a fan, it's a great album and a great introduction to the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Just got this from a deal on Amazon, listening now and I can say with certainty that this is one of the best sounding records I own.Everything sounds incredibly clear, bass is prevalent without being muddy, drums and guitars have plenty of space. (unlike my CD copy where everything sounds like its coming from one instrument) Surface noise is very minimal. I've only noticed a small amount of quiet crackling on side B and a few pops during C'mon Girl. I should mention that I'm being pretty picky about surface noise here, other than these instances it's pretty much dead quiet.I'm incredibly satisfied with this pressing so far. Glad I didn't miss out on it for about 23 dollars.
Trash Obsession
I concur, this album sounds fantastic! I did not notice any noteworthy surface noise on my copy.
Sat down and went through this the other day. Fantastic stuff. Big full sound, clean, crisp bass, really enjoyable.
Does anybody happen to know if the version currently being sold on Amazon (and more specifically Amazon.ca) is the US pressing with the Hoffman/Gray masters, or the EU pressing mastered by Chris Bellman?
I assume when a record is made in EU, Amazon marks the item as "import". Also, many guys here mention it's the US one. So go for it, right now goes for $23.38
IH4N US pressing just got shipped to me from Amazon (for $22.93) Cool, so it's still in print after almost two years! RTI *can* keep old metalwork alive for a long enough time so maybe that's not surprising. I got my US pressing from Amazon.ca in April 2017. I did suspect that the Bellman cut was released in the EU only - not made for export to other countries.
Lost Python
US pressing just got shipped to me from Amazon (for $22.93)
Yes, I understand that, but that doesn't answer my question. Sorry if I wasn't clear, but the only thing I was trying to ask is whether the version currently sold on Amazon.ca is the Hoffman/Gray cut or the new Bellman cut. From what I read the old Hoffman/Gray cut sounds a bit better than the Bellman one. I already ordered a copy of SA from Amazon and both versions are should sound excellent anyway, so is there really any need to worry about such minor differences, if there are even any?
From what I can see, the EU pressing had a new lacquer cut by Bellman, but my understanding is that the mastering of the audio would be the same. Sorry, not sure about the Amazon part of your question.
Shit! Sounds so perfect!! Groovy clear & dynamic sound. I did not expect it!
is this going out of print again?! Can't find it on a lot of websites.
.Richard. I think its been replaced by a new EU cut, remastered by Chris Bellman In North America, it seems that it hasn't been "replaced" yet... the copy I got from Amazon.ca in April 2017 is the US repress with the original SH/KPG master. The Bellman cut only seemed (and perhaps still is) to be the standard one for sale in Europe. When I saw the word "replaced" I was sort of worried that the US repress had already been out of print by the time I was getting SA from Amazon - after all, I believe Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray cut only ONE set of lacquers for the original 2006 vinyl releases (correct me if I'm wrong), and only a finite number of records can be derived from a single set of lacquers until all the metalwork gets worn out.I'm lucky to own the repress for this very reason. And I got it over a year after it came out.
Hello, look on www.jpc.de (German Mailorder) Price at the 20th of June 44.99 Euro
I think its been replaced by a new EU cut, remastered by Chris Bellman
Make sure you toss those crappy PVC inner sleeves before they cause any damage!
Overall quite impressed with the amazing sound quality of this release. However the binding on the middle of the inner gatefolds is pretty shabby with bubbles and minor creases probably due to the thick card the sleeves are made of. The outer case is well made.
OK so just to throw a cat amongst the pigeons, or rather the Europeans amongst the Americans, there's an EU issue of this supposedly coming out 18th March, on coloured vinyl.. BUT that's what some US pre-release info said about the US issue so I doubt that
Do keep us updated. ... colored stadium arcadium would be neat.
now showing as released on 1st April (ho-hum) - and still showing coloured vinyl, major EU wholesaler
Source? They released greatest hits with a color variant... is that maybe what was referenced?
Yes, I got this info from my local record store as well. However, they didn't mention it being on coloured vinyl. I suspect it'll be released on standard black vinyl like the US issue.
Does anybody know how many copies of this 2016 version have been pressed?
1 seller on Discogs as at 25/2/16, only a handful on Amazon, hmm... maybe it's too early, however I know 1 US distributor is sold out already, but another says it's not limited
It is Steve Hoffman i would assume. The Vinyl is etched KPG/SH
Can anyone confirm, whether this is a repress of the Steve Hoffman master, or pressed from the digital master by Vlado Meller?
All vinyl releases feature the KG/SH mastering to the best of my knowledge.
Yes its the analog master! Mastered by Kevin Gray and Steve Hoffman
Rose Of Winds
I think the general consensus is the Steve Hoffman analog master, i'm not 100% sure though
I know how to tell the difference between the 2006 original and the 2016 repress. You can tell by the sticker on the front. On the original, the sticker has rounded corners and the fine print says 1-44391 (#1). http://i.imgur.com/zsAca4G.jpgOn the repress, the sticker has square corners and the fine print says 1-44391 (K1). http://i.imgur.com/tgt6Uwd.jpg
Also the repress is a bit thicker and taller than the original album.
I bought this as a used record, without the sticker. Is here any other difference between the two pressings?
Close inspection of the runout info makes me beleive there is a difference between this and the original - there seems to be a hand etched cat# that has been scratched out on 1A 1E 1G.
By adding 1-44391 (K1) to the identifiers on the 2016 press and the 1-44391 #1 to the 2006 press the problems of identification are a little simpler. Plus notes added about shape of sticker and size of case should make them easily identifiable.
Yes you can see the latest repress is marginally bigger are the matrix runouts the same?
The barcode is identical on the repress. Here is an album showing the original and repress side-by-side (the repress is a bit bigger). http://imgur.com/a/qqS2U
The cat# from the sticker should really be added to the cat # for the 2006 press. I also thought the barcode was different on the 2016 release?
Out of all the RHCP albums to re-release they choose this one????Good grief!
Global Progression
coopzilla Out of all the RHCP albums to re-release they choose this one????Good grief! Because it keeps going OOP and then selling price more than doubles...why wouldn't the artist and record label want to be the ones selling it? Not to mention it was an analogue recording and features an all analogue mastering by two of the best in the biz, sounds terrific.
Why is this a problem? You can easily get all their other albums besides this one.
Excellent pressing overall. There's something mashed into the grooves on my copy about 30 seconds into track B1 - Stadium Arcadium, but that aside no issues. Packaging is high quality with two separate gatefold jackets (Jupiter and Mars) housed in the sturdy box. The individual records are also in nice poly sleeves, so no paper debris all over the records.I am curious about the release information listed above. It appears to be copied directly from the original CD release, but I was under the impression that the mastering was done by Steve Hoffman/Kevin Gray.
Have you been able to fix the issue on the track Stadium Arcadium? I got my copy today but hearing this makes me nervous.Anyone have this said issue?
It doesn't look different to me - this repress is of the 150 value edition https://www.discogs.com/Red-Hot-Chili-Peppers-Stadium-Arcadium/release/853028 which always had a different image to the 180g deluxe edition.
The image on the back of the slipcase for this most recent repress, is different than the two previous pressings.
What barcode do you have on your repress vinyl boxset? If it's the same as the original pressing how will we tell the difference between this reissue and the original?
Someone should fix it, it seems to be a straight repress of the original super value edition, Acoustic Sounds also lists this as being mastered at AcousTech Mastering
