Over the last three months I have worked intensively on Jan Akkerman's 26 cd box set featuring his collection of albums, including a cd of his selection of Focus tracks and a disc featuring previously unreleased material. Jan's back catalogue is now definitely 'futureproof'. The Noise Of Art - Jan Akkerman. Live is a fusion music live album recording by JAN AKKERMAN released in 1978 on CD, LPVinyl andor cassette. JAN AKKERMAN - Live. Jazz music community with review and forums. 0 rating 0 review. Live album 1978. Filed under Fusion By JAN AKKERMAN. Jan Akkerman born 24 December 1946 is a Dutch guitarist. He first found international commercial success with the band Focus, which he co-founded with Thijs van Leer. After leaving Focus, he continued as a solo musician, adding jazz fusion influences. The son of a scrap iron trader, Akkerman was born in Amsterdam. At age five he took guitar lessons and his first single was released in 1960, when he was thirteen years old. Akkerman won a scholarship to study at the Amsterdam Music Lyceum for five. Album 2008 11 Songs. Rock , 2008. Answers Questions Live. Anonymous Live. Palace of the King Live. Tranquilizer Live. In the Mood Live. A perfect live album. This Jan Akkerman record is a real gem After firs spin I was convinced this by far his best live album. The material comes mainly from his self-titled record 1977, though Tommy of the Eruption suite of Focus is added and two new compositions in the spirit of the self-titled Jan Akkerman album. As almost any Jan Akkerman's album, this his first ever live solo release is inconsistent. It starts with few great guitar fusion compositions, aerial, with energy and even sharpness in moments. I am not a big fan of him, but in moments I hear there sound what I like - powerful jazz-rock with melodies, complexity and even some drive
