Страна: США. Moth, Wolf Cub is a collaborative release by the British musicians Burial and Four Tet. It was released exclusively on vinyl on 4 May 2009 by Hebden's own Text Records imprint. The limited-run 12 vinyl had no label and was packaged in a completely black sleeve without liner notes. Neither the artists nor the record label have released any information about the single's content or production, save for the artists and track names. This record was repressed in November 2011. Wolf Club features Four Tets contributions far more heavily, evident from the beginning, with bright, organic arpeggios that sound more akin to playing drum beats on wind chimes than anything computer-generated. When Burials two-step enters at the two and a half minute mark, it brings his unmistakable vocal samples with it, weaving in and out of the tattered, shimmering fabric at its leisure, creating an eerie backdrop to the otherwise high-tempo, pitter-patter of Four Tets textures. Why do both pressings say white label when they are both black labels? Am I missing some fundamental rule or something?
"White label" is a generic term that simply means "blank label" and isn't a direct reference to the color of the label itself. Historically speaking, the labels have almost always been white in color.
White label means there is nothing written on it .
still to this day moth is one of my faves, starts off dark and slowly progresses into something beautiful. these two make a really good tag team.
Is there a chance digital will ever be for sale? I'd love to have MP3 of the four tracks these two producers did together. Vinyl rips would be great even.
I've seen vinyl rips floating around. That's actually how I first heard these tracks.
i think it is time for a repress of all 3 burial & four tet releases as there are "Moth / Wolf Cub", "Ego / Mirror" & "Nova"... would be a nice box : ) ‎
Agreed. Would be pretty cool if they did a limited edition box set with some nice art and each album pressed using a different color vinyl that corresponded to the song titles (i.e. "Moth/Wolf Cub" on gray/tan, "Ego/Mirror" on silver, and "Nova" on something like navy blue or black with a color burst).
Fantastic 12" forge a set of preferred cans on your ears.... roll a planet destroying piece of mother nature and ...........sekkle.....brutal heaven Peace
i remember i was visiting a friend in berlin on the day of the release, 1st may 2009, it was a beautiful weekend. this record was a surprise for everyone, basically nobody knew about this thing, or saw it coming. there were some rumours about a collab, but you know, who believes that shit anyway. when it hit, it hit hard. hasn't lost any of its magic since. happy to have bought this without even listening to the clips. 7 years man, time flies.
Mastering is quite bad on Moth in my opinion, am i alone thinking that??
just to clarify; it is deliberate! Very typical sound for FT and Burial.
It isn't bad, but I see why you would say it
I think its ok and would even go as far as to say its deliberate.
energy breath
7 years later one could say moth changed my life
Lahorns Gods
Funny thing is, it changed mine too - and for the better

The original TEXT release got another repress along TEXT008 and TEXT009!
moth is repressed on four tet - compilation one FTC001 A1 pyramid B1 pinnacle B2 moth
TELL ME WHY, where is this vocal FROM?!
Moth is timeless, prob my favourite track of 2009
It wouldn't be a stretch to say that Burial and Four Tet are the two most talented producers in the entire UK bass music scene, period. For them to collaborate on two singles is truly something out of this world.
I hate how this got repressed and sold out within a day at Boomkat. I don't think they repressed enough. I somehow believe that there seems to be more copies of the Thom Yorke collab than this one. :(
Should have waited 2 more months for the repress and pay half the price... :(
Got the repress - fantastic pressing quality. Identical with the exception of March 2009 etched onto the vinyl is not scored through. This is the only varaince I believe. Anyone any idea how many were repressed?
anyone know when/where to get the repress?!
copped one off bleep, sold out a minute later... sold out at redeye already too... should be at other distros at some point tho
yes repress to come :) classic
In May, the music scene was abuzz with a new collaboration from Burial and Four Tet. It seemed that everyone was talking about two tracks pressed on black vinyl with just an etching of the suspects. What should one expect when you combine the skills of an early child of electronica, Kieran Hebden, and the previously anonymous face of a euphoric dubstep artist, unmasked to be William Bevan? You get just that – infusion of dubstep over silky rolling beats. The A-side’s Moth is the winner for me on this record, with its memorable minor chord hook, vocal echoes, and minimal tech-house beat. That single track alone deserves a full writeup, and I wish the duo would take this formula and create a full length album!
