Although rated very highly by many Bert Jansch fans, Rosemary Lane isn't quite as striking as his best albums of the '60s. It's more of a delivery of all the attributes listeners had come to expect of him by 1971 - excellent acoustic guitar work, imaginative interpretations of traditional material and well-constructed originals in the same vein, and committed vocals - than a step forward, or even sideways. Rosemary Lane Lyrics. Wayward Child Lyrics. Bert Jansch was an innovator who incorporated folk, blues, jazz and classical elements into a unique playing style. More than that he was a contemporary incarnation of the bardic storyteller, reaching back centuries. He was a true dreamweaver. Rosemary Lane is a traditionalish folky album, released in 1971 just at the end of Jansch's time with the original Pentangle line up. While in some respects stylistically similar to what he was doing with the group at the time, it is very definitely a solo album and has his own distinctive persona running right through it
